Ladies on Scooters

The pressure for the girls to hire scooters had reached a peak, the time had come, there was no avoiding it we need them to have transport so we could go for our walk tomorrow. Sounds weird but that is the truth of it, problem was the initial enthusiasm for the bikes from the girls seemed to have waned a bit. To help restore their confidence we took them down to the football field to have a ride to regain their self believe. We were not the only ones with this issue, down at the football field there was another couple doing exactly the same, its good to know we are all just human.

The practice seemed to work well, the girls had to do a wee ride prior getting their temporary licence to prove they could stay upright and wouldn’t wobble off. A lad before us was not putting on a good show, after nearly taking out the hedge and loosing his footwear as he tried to stabilize, he disappear down the road behind a hedge prompting one of the staff at the hire shop to go looking for him.

Our girls acquitted themselves well, getting their temporary licence’s with ease, however we are in the Cook Islands and the ATM for our Credit cards didn’t work. This could have unravelled our plans, however again this is the Cook Islands, and the staff just told us to come back later and pay, we were free to take the bikes and so we left on the basis we would be back some four hours later With that we headed into town the long way so they could get their official licence’s.

One of the ladies had her birthday today and so we had a party booking at “Sails” restaurant next door and only fifty yards down the beach from our complex.

Tomorrow we are off hiking through the middle of the island which involves actually getting to the starting point, so a lot more riding. Great fun.
