Today was a lazy day we only snorkelled for an hour, walked for two hours and biked about ten kilometres. We went to North Beach by boat with a nice young guy called Peter. Peter had been on the island about six and a half years and was an experienced diving instructor. He took us to North Beach and then out to the reef for a snorkel; He came in with us and pointed out all the parts of a wreck called the Favourite, now in eight bits. The favourite was a fishing boat grounded in 1965. The various bits are home for lots of varied marine fish. Pete dived with us and as far as possible gave us a commentary of what we were seeing.
Post diving, it was back to the beach where Pete provided tea and chocolate cake. We went on to Old Gulch and wandered around to the sea caves while he cooked our lunch,
After lunch people did everything from lounge in the sand to climbing Mt Eliza. Alison and I decided to bush bash our way up to Middle Gardens, which is the abandoned garden of Captain Middleton. Not much to see but interesting to find and we had no idea who Captain Middleton was other than he had a garden in North Bay Lord Howe Island.
